Georgia Bulldogs Capture Historic 2026 Campaign
The 2026 University of Georgia Bulldogs concluded a spectacular campaign, posting a 53‑14 overall record and earning a consensus national ranking of No. 3. Their dominance was evident in the SEC, where they captured both the regular‑season and tournament championships and advanced to the College World Series, finishing tied for third overall.
A season of milestones
The Bulldogs established new program benchmarks, smashing the single‑season home‑run record with 179 round‑trippers and posting a pitching staff that struck out 700 batters, the second‑most in the nation for 2026. Those figures underscored a season defined by power and precision.
Coach Wes Johnson was recognized as SEC Coach of the Year, becoming the first Georgia skipper to host an NCAA Regional while still a top‑eight national seed in his first three seasons. His leadership helped the team navigate a demanding schedule that included road series victories over five top‑25 opponents.
Individual accolades poured in, highlighted by Daniel Jackson’s SEC Triple Crown — leading the conference in batting average, home runs and RBIs — and his selection as the nation’s top Division 1 player. Jackson also earned the Dick Howser Trophy and the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award.
Jackson’s .379 batting average secured the SEC batting title, marking the third consecutive year a Georgia player has claimed the honor. The team also placed six players at the MLB Draft Combine, including Kenny Ishikawa, Ryland Lujo, Tre Phelps, Dylan Vigue and Joey Volchko.
Volchko was named to the College World Series All‑Tournament Team after delivering a complete‑game performance with 15 strikeouts, the fifth such game in Georgia CWS history. Additional standouts such as Tre Phelps, who set a school record with 35 hit‑by‑pitches, and a host of other draft‑eligible teammates illustrated the depth of talent on the roster.
