A nod to tradition
The University of Georgia’s football program has been celebrated for more than just on‑field success; four of its long‑standing traditions have now been nominated for USA TODAY Sports Readers' Choice Awards.
Fans can cast their votes for the fight song "Glory, Glory," Sanford Stadium, the beloved bulldog mascot Uga, and the vibrant Athens tailgate scene, with the ballot remaining open until August 17 at 11:59 a.m. ET.
The announcement of the top ten winners will take place on August 26 at noon ET, spotlighting the traditions that have helped define Georgia’s game‑day culture.
Georgia’s recent achievements add context to the nominations; the Bulldogs finished a 12‑2 season that captured the SEC Championship and earned a College Football Playoff berth, and they will open the 2026 campaign on September 5 against Tennessee State, a game that will be streamed live on the SEC Network+. Coach Kirby Smart has guided the team through that remarkable stretch, underscoring the program’s continuity.
