Georgia High School Boys Soccer Honors
The Boys Soccer Player of the Year award, organized by the state’s high school sports association, has announced its 2026 nominees, selecting 18 standout athletes from across Georgia.
Coaches and statisticians compiled the initial list, weighing on‑field production, accolades and regional recognitions before narrowing the field to a group of finalists.
How the Finalists Are Chosen
The selection process blends coach votes, statistical analysis and award histories, then trims the pool before opening a public vote for a ‘last finalist.’ An internal panel of experts will apply a Heisman‑style scoring system to crown the winner.
Among the nominees, several players have posted eye‑catching numbers. Ridge Cole of Lumpkin County leads with 15 goals and four assists, while Eli Cooling from Franklin County boasts 28 goals and ten assists. Caleb Farris of Jefferson earned Region Goalkeeper of the Year honors, and Kainen Shirley of Union County contributed 23 goals and ten assists.
Other notable mentions include Christian Avila of Rabun County, who recorded four goals and six assists, and Pierre Kouadio of Stephens County, who added ten goals and sixteen assists. Goalkeepers such as Lucien Perez of Tallulah Falls have logged 10‑15 saves per match, underscoring the defensive talent on display.
The competition also reflects the diversity of the state’s soccer landscape, with representatives from Rabun County, Lumpkin County, Franklin County, Jefferson, Tallulah Falls, Dawson County, Stephens County, Commerce and Union County all vying for the honor.
