A Tragic Convergence of Crime and Loss
A 44‑year‑old man from Georgia has been taken into custody after police say he broke into the home of the late NASCAR driver Greg Biffle just days after learning of a fatal plane crash that claimed the lives of Biffle’s wife, two children and three others.
Investigators say Terrell Williams used a radio‑frequency detector to locate security cameras, cracked a safe and walked away with roughly $30,000 in cash, two Glock handguns, assorted NASCAR memorabilia and a collection of gold and silver coins.
The theft, which occurred on January 8, 2026, also involved the illicit access of Biffle’s online financial accounts, where Williams allegedly transferred money from Venmo, PayPal and bank balances to accounts he controlled, even cashing a fraudulent check.
Authorities have linked Williams to a second burglary involving a hospital security officer, and they say the stolen items were later recovered, underscoring the breadth of the alleged criminal spree.
The case has drawn the attention of the National Transportation Safety Board, which is still probing the December 18, 2025 crash that killed Biffle and his family, while local prosecutors prepare to prosecute the multiple felonies, including second‑degree burglary, safe cracking, money laundering and fraud.
