Georgia Tech athletics has teamed up with The Players Trunk to launch an online auction of game‑worn football jerseys that date back to the 2010s, giving fans a chance to own a tangible piece of the Yellow Jackets’ recent history.
The bidding window opened recently and will remain open through May 29, with all items listed exclusively at theplayerstrunkauction.com, where interested buyers can browse photographs, read detailed descriptions and place their offers.
Each jersey, having been worn on the field during actual collegiate contests, carries the patina of real game action, appealing to alumni, collectors and anyone who follows the program’s legacy.
Founder’s Vision
Austin Pomerantz, founder of The Players Trunk, said the collaboration reflects a growing appetite for authentic college memorabilia and praised the partnership for streamlining every step from intake to delivery.
Ryan Alpert, Georgia Tech’s vice president and director of athletics, added that the auction not only celebrates the team’s past but also creates a new revenue stream that can be reinvested in future initiatives.
The arrangement showcases how athletic departments can partner with specialist platforms to monetize legacy gear while preserving a high‑quality experience for purchasers, a model that could inspire similar projects across the collegiate landscape.
The companies also took the opportunity to apologize for an earlier misstatement that had placed the jerseys in the 2006 season, clarifying that the items actually span a broader range of years within the 2010s.
