Georgia Tech has entered its fall camp, marking the first major test for a staff that has added new coordinators and five fresh position coaches.
Position battles across the roster
The quarterback spot was settled during spring practice, but the coaching staff still faces open competitions at wide receiver, offensive line, defensive line, cornerback and safety.
At wide receiver, players such as Jordan Allen and Isaiah Fuhrmann are among a dozen candidates vying for snaps, adding depth and uncertainty to the group.
The left‑guard position is also up for grabs after Joe Fusile’s departure, with Kevin Peay Jr. viewed as a favorite to claim the role.
Right tackle will see a duel between Jameson Riggs and Markell Samuell, both of whom have previous program experience and are looking to solidify the line.
Defensively, the line competition includes transfers Noah Carter, Taje McCoy and Jordan Walker, alongside returners like Amontrae Bradford, creating a mix of youth and veteran presence.
Cornerback is missing three starters, but key returnees such as Jaylen Mbakwe and Jonas Duclona are expected to anchor the secondary.
Safety will feature four returning players competing for spots after the loss of two starters, with no new transfers added to the mix.
The three‑week camp will ultimately determine the final rotation for the season opener against Colorado on September 3, a game that will set the tone for the Yellow Jackets’ campaign.
Cross‑Training Emphasis
Coach Brent Key and offensive line coach Allen Mogridge have emphasized cross‑training for linemen, aiming to increase flexibility and depth on the front.
