The College Baseball Foundation announced its All‑America team this week, and the Yellow Jackets celebrated a sweep that few programs achieve. Jarren Advincula, Drew Burress and Vahn Lackey each earned spots on the prestigious list, bringing national attention to Georgia Tech’s resurgence.
A historic season for the Yellow Jackets
Drew Burress made history as the first Georgia Tech player to collect five or more first‑team All‑America selections across multiple seasons, cementing his place among the program’s all‑time greats. His career totals include record‑setting numbers for runs, RBIs, doubles, home runs and total bases in the BBCOR era.
Jarren Advincula topped the nation with 111 hits this season and posted a 57‑game hitting streak that ranks second in school history, showcasing his consistency at the plate.
Offensive firepower and defensive excellence
Vahn Lackey delivered a breakout year, batting .397 and earning the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award. He also led the Yellow Jackets’ offense in runs scored, slugging percentage, on‑base percentage and walks, and his .772 slugging percentage ties him with Mark Teixeira for the second‑highest mark by a Georgia Tech player this century.
The trio’s recognitions reflect a program that has consistently produced elite talent, from past legends such as Jason Varitek and Nomar Garciaparra to the current generation. With the support of coaches and the broader baseball community, Georgia Tech looks to build on this momentum in the upcoming season.
