On July 19, the Factory 2.0 Girls Flag Football Combine and Camp took over Memorial Stadium in Savannah, drawing more than 200 young athletes from across the region.
A Milestone for Girls’ Football
The two‑day camp welcomed girls between the ages of eight and eighteen, who rotated through a series of drills, small‑sided games and skill challenges led by local coaches and former collegiate players.
Coach Rob DeLoach, who helped organize the event, said the surge in participation reflects a national trend. “Flag football is the fastest‑growing sport in the country,” he noted, adding that the camp gave the girls a chance to pick up new techniques they can bring back to their school teams.
Organizers were surprised by how quickly the roster filled — registrations topped 200 in under 25 hours — and they now plan to make the combine a semi‑annual fixture, citing the enthusiasm as proof of the sport’s rising popularity.

DeLoach emphasized that beyond the on‑field work, the camp aimed to foster confidence and teamwork among the participants, hoping the experience would translate into stronger, more cohesive squads when the high school season begins.
