Oklahoma State University has named Glenn Cain as its new strength and conditioning coach for the women's basketball team, a move that signals the program's intent to bolster its physical development infrastructure.
Cain arrives after five years at Rutgers, where he helped the Scarlet Knights refine their on‑court performance, and prior stints at New Mexico, Kansas and Frostburg State University. At Kansas he oversaw the men's basketball team's athletic performance and contributed to a women's program that reached back‑to‑back Sweet 16 appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
A Coach With Proven Track Record
During his tenure at Kansas, eight players earned NBA Draft selections, underscoring his ability to prepare athletes for elite competition. Cain also interned with Rutgers football in 2007 and worked with the UConn women's basketball squad in 2009, experiences that broadened his perspective across sports.
Head coach Jacie Hoyt praised Cain's reputation among peers, noting that his positive influence extends beyond the weight room. "Glenn's expertise and collaborative spirit make him an ideal fit for our vision," Hoyt said in the announcement.
Cain expressed enthusiasm about joining the Cowgirls, citing the opportunity to contribute to a growing program in Stillwater. "I'm excited to be part of this community and to help the team reach new heights," he remarked.
He succeeds Dan Apodaca, who served on Hoyt's staff for three seasons, and will now oversee strength training, injury prevention and player conditioning for the roster.
