A Historic Run
Gonzaga Prep, a high school baseball program from the Greater Spokane League, has become the first team from that league to reach the State 4A semifinals since 2022, setting up a showdown with Richland at 1 p.m. Friday in Everett.
Coach Brian Munhall has guided the Bullpups through a turnaround season, and the team enters the game as underdogs but with confidence built on an eight‑game winning streak that includes victories over Richland and Kamiakin.
The roster boasts six all‑league selections, including pitcher of the year Dylan Croall, and a deep pitching staff that can match any state opponent. Senior Karis, who earned MVP honors and is headed to an MLB draft league, anchors the lineup, while Jonah Keller, a multi‑sport athlete bound for San Diego Mesa College, returned to the diamond for his final season.
Other standouts such as Jackson Mott, Jacob Wilson, Jacob Wood, Cole Harvey, Jack Pierce, Quinn Mudd, Wyatt Machtolf and Brent Castelo have contributed to a squad that also carries championship experience from football and basketball.
The upcoming match will test the Bullpups against a Richland team they have already beaten twice this season, a feat that underscores their competitive edge and the broader excitement across Washington high school sports.
