Gonzaga Bulldogs have locked in 18‑year‑old French guard Juwan Ekanga‑Ehawa, a promising prospect from the youth ranks of JL Bourg, signaling the program’s intent to bolster its backcourt for the 2026‑27 campaign.
A Revamped Starting Five
The coaching staff projects a starting unit that blends size and shooting, with 7‑foot‑1 center Massamba Diop anchoring the paint after his shot‑blocking stint at Arizona State, while sophomore guard Braden Huff, who once averaged 17.8 points before a knee injury, looks to reclaim his form. Sophomore forward Davis Fogle is expected to take a leap as a breakout candidate, and 6‑6 wing Isiah Harwell could earn immediate minutes in Spokane. At point guard, Mario Saint‑Supery, who seized the role midway through last season, brings an elite three‑point threat that stretches defenses.
Depth and International Flavor
Beyond the starters, the roster features a mix of newcomers and veterans, including Izan Almansa, Parker Jefferson, Luca Foster, Sam Funches, Alonzo Metz and Carter Nilson, while the French guard himself joins the mix alongside prospects such as Nikola Kusturica and Savo Drezgic. The Bulldogs have already filled twelve of fifteen scholarship slots and are still scouting additional international talent to round out the squad.
Coaching Perspective
Head coach Mark Few, who has guided the program for decades, emphasized the strategic value of adding a developmental piece like Ekanga‑Ehawa, noting that the French guard’s defensive instincts and playmaking could complement the existing core.
