Goodyear’s Proven Tire Strategy Fuels NASCAR’s Return to Chicagoland

After successful tests and European events, the new Racing Eagle setup aims to deliver competitive performance at the 1.5‑mile Illinois oval.

NASCAR’s Return to Chicagoland

NASCAR is set to make its long‑awaited return to Chicagoland Speedway, the 1.5‑mile oval in Joliet, Illinois, with a fresh package of Goodyear Racing Eagle tires that have already been tested and proven on similar intermediate tracks.

Testing Insights

An April session that brought together drivers from Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota, including Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, Denny Hamlin, Justin Allgaier and Brandon Jones, gave Goodyear valuable data to fine‑tune the setups that mirror the configuration last used at Nashville Superspeedway.

The chosen compounds will also be deployed on tracks a mile or longer, where inner liners are required, ensuring durability without sacrificing performance.

European Deployments

Goodyear Racing Eagles are currently in action in Italy for the European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Imola and will soon appear in France for the Historic Sportscar Racing NASCAR Classic presented by Goodyear, showcasing the same proven technology that will soon be on display in Illinois.

Rick Heinrich, Goodyear’s NASCAR product manager, confirmed that the tire setups are not only proven but also tailored to the specific demands of the 1.5‑mile track, promising a competitive and exciting race weekend.
