The University of Minnesota's men's basketball program has been honored with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025‑26 academic year, acknowledging its collective grade point average of at least 3.0.
Award Criteria and Broader Impact
The NABC’s academic accolade is bestowed on programs that meet the 3.0 GPA threshold, and this year more than 400 teams across all divisions earned the distinction, reflecting a growing emphasis on scholarly performance in college basketball.
In addition to the team honor, four Gophers — Cade Tyson, Maximus Gizzi, RJ Spencer and Robert Vaihola — were selected to the NABC Honors Court, a recognition reserved for players who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
