The Minnesota Golden Gophers women's soccer team is set to begin its first road trip of the season with a showdown against the North Dakota State Bison on Thursday, August 20, 2024, at Dacotah Field in Fargo, North Dakota.
A historic series
This encounter marks the tenth meeting between the two programs, a series in which Minnesota has never trailed, holding a perfect 9‑0 record against the Bison.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time, and fans can watch the action live on Midco Sports Plus, the regional broadcaster that will stream the match.
The Gophers entered the week unbeaten, having posted a 4‑0 victory over North Dakota and a 1‑1 draw with Georgia in their opening fixtures.
In the 4‑0 win, Katie Krohn delivered a brace, Kate Childers headed in a goal, and Davy Mokelke added the fourth marker, while goalkeeper Sarah Martin secured the team's first shutout of the season, conceding only a penalty kick.
Freshman standouts such as Ava Westlund, who earned a spot on the 2026 United Soccer Coaches “Forwards to Watch” list and sits at No. 96 on TopDrawerSoccer’s Preseason Top 100, are joined by Bella Naples, Savannah Enriquez, Ellen Neuharth, as well as transfers Matigann Vixayvong, Katelyn Rigg and Selah Koleth, who are all expected to feature prominently.
Beyond the current roster, five former Gophers alumni are now competing professionally across leagues in the NWSL, the Gainbridge Super League, the Serbian Women's Super League, Iceland's Premier League and Australia’s Lions FC 1, underscoring the program's growing international footprint.
