A Holistic Approach to Athlete Health
The National Women’s Soccer League club revealed this week that it has enlisted Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York (RMA of New York) as its official fertility and reproductive endocrinology provider. The agreement marks a distinct shift toward proactive health management, extending beyond the pitch to address the personal goals of its roster.
Through the partnership, Gotham FC’s players, coaches and staff will receive a full suite of services, including fertility assessments, preservation consultations, egg freezing, in‑vitro fertilization and other reproductive health options. The clinic’s network of twelve locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island and Westchester, equipped with four IVF laboratories, will serve as the operational backbone for these offerings.
Insights from Leadership
Alex Chang, Gotham FC’s chief revenue officer, emphasized that the deal reflects the club’s dedication to the long‑term health and personal well‑being of its members. “Our athletes are constantly balancing the demands of elite competition with aspirations outside the stadium,” Chang said. “Supporting their family‑building journeys is a natural extension of that responsibility.”
Dr. Alan Copperman, chief executive of RMA of New York, highlighted the unique needs of high‑performance athletes. “Elite competitors require precise information about their reproductive timelines,” he noted, “so they can make informed choices that align with both career peaks and personal milestones.”
A New Frontier for Fan Engagement
The collaboration will weave RMA of New York into the fabric of Gotham FC’s matchday experience. Educational booths will appear at Fan Fests, in‑stadium signage will spotlight fertility awareness, and targeted campaigns will demystify processes such as egg freezing for a broader fan base.
Beyond individual care, the alliance aims to elevate public understanding of reproductive health within professional sports. By normalizing conversations around fertility preservation, the partnership seeks to empower athletes who wish to balance rigorous schedules with the pursuit of parenthood.
