A Fresh Face in Boston
Grace Dwyer, a standout defender from Cornell University, was selected in the first round of the Premier Women's Hockey League draft by the Boston Fleet, marking a significant addition to the franchise's backline.
During her final collegiate season, Dwyer captained the Big Red to a strong finish, recording 23 blocked shots, six goals and 14 assists while consistently anchoring the defense. Her leadership qualities and physical presence have already drawn praise from league analysts.
She will line up alongside PWHL Defender of the Year Megan Keller and rookie sensation Haley Winn, forming a trio that could reshape the Fleet's defensive dynamics heading into the next season.
A native of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, Dwyer previously skated with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers and represented the United States at both the Collegiate Select Team and the 2022 IIHF Under‑18 World Championship, where she helped secure a silver medal.
Her international résumé also includes stints with Frölunda HC in Sweden and appearances for Boston University, giving her a broad competitive background that she says will translate well to the professional stage.
Dwyer expressed excitement about joining a team with elite defenders and emphasized her desire to bring a competitive spirit and relentless work ethic to Boston, aiming to contribute directly to the Fleet's pursuit of championship success.
