Family Roots and a Pitcher’s Path
Grady Belfrage, a standout baseball player from the small town of Tekamah‑Herman in Nebraska, has officially signed with Morningside College, bringing his talents to the Mustangs' pitching rotation.
The decision was shaped early on by a close family member who encouraged him to pursue baseball over the other high school sport he excelled in, a choice that has now led him to the next level of collegiate competition.
In high school, Belfrage wore two hats — pitcher and first baseman — for the Tigers, helping the squad show noticeable growth despite finishing the spring season with a 4‑11 record. He recalls that transformation as his favorite memory of the year.
After weighing offers from four other schools, he chose Morningside, citing the program’s direction and the opportunity to focus exclusively on pitching as key factors in his decision.
Off the mound, Belfrage plans to major in Chemistry and minor in Applied Agriculture, a combination that reflects both his academic curiosity and his connection to the region’s agricultural roots.
He is the son of KJ and Manni Belfrage, whose support has been a constant throughout his athletic and academic journey.
