Grayden Graves, a senior at Grove City High School, has been named the recipient of the Paul Donskov Legacy Scholarship, a $3,500 award that celebrates excellence on the ice and in the classroom.
A Journey From Prowlers to Playoff Dreams
Graves began his hockey career as a youth player before earning a spot on the Columbus Mavericks AA team, where he eventually transitioned to the role of goalie. He later joined the Prowlers, a club team for high schools that do not sponsor varsity hockey, and rose to become the team’s No. 1 net‑minder, earning OSHL all‑star honors and leading the squad as captain.
Beyond the rink, Graves has demonstrated leadership through community service, coaching youth hockey and soccer, and volunteering at the Mid‑Ohio Foodbank. His 4.3 GPA and involvement in the Key Club reflect a commitment to scholarship that matches his athletic drive.
The scholarship, named for Paul Donskov — a pioneer of hockey in Central Ohio — was presented in partnership with the Blue Jackets Foundation. It underscores the values of education and youth hockey that Paul Donskov championed throughout his life.
Looking Ahead to Ohio State
Graves plans to attend Ohio State University next fall, where he intends to study biology with the long‑term goal of becoming an eye surgeon. He hopes to remain connected to hockey by continuing his coaching journey, blending his passion for the sport with his professional aspirations.
