The University of Wisconsin‑Green Bay’s women’s soccer program is buzzing after announcing its 2026 campaign, a schedule that builds on the record‑breaking 2025 season that saw the Phoenix reach the Horizon League Championship match.
A 20‑game slate on the horizon
The upcoming season will feature 20 matches in total — one exhibition and 19 regular‑season contests. Of those, nine will be played at home and ten on the road, giving the team a balanced mix of familiar venues and challenging away trips.
The first test will be an exhibition game against South Dakota State on August 6 in Blaine, Minnesota, before the squad opens its regular slate on August 13 at North Dakota State. The first home appearance is slated for August 20 against South Dakota, setting the tone for a season that promises early excitement.
Non‑conference opponents include North Dakota, Omaha, St. Thomas, Western Illinois, Indiana State and Chicago State, before Horizon League play begins on September 19 with a road game at Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Illinois. The first home conference match arrives on September 24 against Detroit Mercy, and the regular season will wrap up on October 31 against the Milwaukee Panthers.
With the top six teams in the league earning a spot in the Horizon League Championships, the Phoenix are poised to contend again. The championship bracket will commence on November 7, culminating in the final on November 14, giving the team a clear pathway to end the year on a high note.
Head coach Matt Kagan, who guided the program to its best season ever, unveiled the schedule on Wednesday afternoon, emphasizing the team’s preparation and the importance of each matchup as the roster looks to sustain its upward trajectory.
