Green Bay Strikers Soccer, a local amateur league, has been forced to relocate its upcoming matches after a recent act of vandalism damaged the playing fields at Arnie Wolff Sports Complex.
Vandalism Leaves Deep Tracks on the Pitch
The incident occurred when a vehicle drove across the wet turf, leaving deep tire tracks that rendered portions of the pitch unusable. Club officials said the damage was discovered early on Saturday morning, and the field was immediately closed for assessment.
Action 2 News contacted Green Bay Police, which confirmed that officers are investigating the incident and have asked anyone with information to come forward. Police have not yet released details about a suspect or motive.
Finding New Venues
The league has announced that its next set of fixtures will be played at alternative venues, including the nearby municipal fields at East River Park, while repairs are underway at the original complex. Scheduling adjustments have been made to minimize disruption for players, coaches and families.
Club spokesperson Maria Hernandez said the temporary move will allow the season to continue without further delay, and the organization is working closely with the city’s parks department to ensure that the new sites meet all safety and scheduling requirements.
