Green Canyon High School’s girls soccer squad opened its 2026 campaign in spectacular fashion, posting a 5-0 win over defending 6A state champion Syracuse on August 3.
Opening Dominance
Freshman forward Eva Israelsen sparked the offense with two goals, while midfielder Jaycee Knight added a goal and an assist, linking up early with Israelsen on the opening strike.
Knight’s second-half contribution came when he redirected a pass from Chloe Sadler into the net, extending Green Canyon’s lead before Autumn Howell and Kloey Tensmeyer each found the back of the net to make it 4-0.
Goalkeeper Britt Maw secured a clean sheet with several key saves, preserving the shutout and allowing the offense to play with confidence.
The victory aligns with preseason expectations that Green Canyon, having returned every starter from 2025, would be a top contender, a notion reinforced by a 4A coaches’ poll labeling the team as the squad to beat.

With chemistry already evident and a deep roster at their disposal, the Cavs are poised to tackle a challenging schedule that includes several marquee matchups later in the season.
