Greg Campitelli, a recent graduate of New Trier High School, capped a two‑year run as the team’s starting pitcher with a season that blended grit and growth.
In a recent interview he described the ritual that gets him ready for each outing: a quick study of the opposing lineup, a few stretches, and then a playlist of calming tracks that help him settle into focus.
Choosing his next chapter, Campitelli opted for Augustana College, citing the school’s picturesque campus, a competitive baseball program, and a solid academic reputation as the perfect mix for his ambition to eventually run a business, a path he traces back to a childhood lemonade stand.
Moments that defined a season
One of the highlights came when he threw a no‑hitter, then watched the game stretch to eleven innings in a sectional final, a test of endurance that he says taught him how much control a pitcher can wield when the stakes rise.
Off the mound, his favorite diversions include hanging out with friends, hitting the links for a casual round of golf, and, on long flights, stocking up on Flavor Blast Goldfish — a snack he’s become known for among teammates.
He also spent six months as the top global player in the mobile game MLB Perfect Inning, a testament to his competitive streak that extends beyond the diamond.
Through it all, Campitelli has emerged as a leader for the Trevians, guiding a squad that, despite a modest number of Division I prospects, finished the senior season with a winning record and a culture of resilience.
