Greg Sommers, a 2002 graduate of North Quincy High and longtime assistant coach, has been named the new head football coach, replacing Ryan Craig who was hired in 2018. His appointment marks a return to familiar leadership for the program.
A familiar face takes the helm
Sommers brings a deep reservoir of experience, having served as the varsity assistant coach for the past three seasons and spending 14 years on the coaching staff at Quincy High in various capacities. He also guided the Quincy High softball team for a decade and has been an educator in the Quincy Public School system for 19 years, currently serving as Dean of Students at North Quincy High.
The transition comes after a season that began with a three‑game winning streak but ended with a five‑game losing streak. Community members and players alike are hopeful that Sommers' blend of coaching acumen and administrative insight will restore momentum and foster a competitive culture moving forward.
