The Griswold Tigers concluded their baseball campaign with an 8-15 record, matching last year’s tally, but the team’s performance suggested more than the numbers indicated.
A Promising Outlook for the Tigers
Head Coach Ryan Lockwood emphasized that the squad was far more competitive this season, despite the modest win-loss column.
The departure of four senior pitchers, who collectively logged 87 innings, leaves a sizable gap on the mound, but the roster retains a core of emerging talent.
Two eighth-graders, Jaxon Eilts and Grayson Smith, have already begun to turn heads. Eilts batted .255 and posted a 2.42 ERA across four appearances, while Smith hit .304 and maintained a 2.00 ERA in limited pitching duty.
The Tigers also boast a solid junior class that will be seniors next year — Callen Keiser, Cavyn Turner and Walker Gary — who have shown steady improvement, especially in the latter part of the season.
Adding to the depth, sophomores Colton Frieze, Brayden Beck and Cedrick Victor are expected to contribute significantly in the coming months, while the senior group includes Brayden Lockwood, Nollan Smith, Kolbe Klindt and Calden Turner.
Coach Lockwood believes the blend of seasoned juniors, promising sophomores and the fresh energy of the eighth-graders positions Griswold to be competitive once again, aiming to translate close games into victories.
