The George Stevens Academy (GSA) baseball team has secured its first home playoff game since 2019, finishing the regular season with an 11-5 record and fourth place in the Class C North standings.
On senior night, June 1, the Eagles edged Narraguagus 8-3, with Spencer Young striking out eight batters and adding two RBIs, while Wyatt Young delivered a dominant performance on the mound, fanning 11 opponents over six innings in a 10-5 win over Calais.
Playoff Push for the Eagles
Head Coach Dan Kane praised the squad’s resilience, noting how the players “finished strong” and turned a challenging stretch into a platform for postseason play.
The quarterfinal showdown against rival Bucksport is scheduled for June 11 at 4:30 p.m., a matchup that promises added intensity for both teams and their supporters.
Softball and Tennis Highlights
The GSA softball team recorded its first win of the season in a dramatic comeback against Calais, with junior Taylor Grego striking out 11 batters and senior Cadence Pert going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, the girls’ tennis team reached the Class C North semifinals before falling to top‑seeded Orono 3-2, finishing the year with a 7-7 record that reflected steady improvement.
