A Fresh Push for Guessand
Crystal Palace have revived their pursuit of Aston Villa striker Evann Guessand, a move that was originally rebuffed last summer when a £28 million buy‑out clause proved prohibitive. The club’s sporting director confirmed the renewed interest after the Eagles missed the May 31 deadline following manager Oliver Glasner’s exit.
Guessand spent the latter half of the previous campaign on loan at Selhurst Park, appearing in 14 fixtures and netting two goals. The French forward now wants to return to a more familiar central position and is eager to force his way into Villa’s plans under Unai Emery.
Villa’s attacking options have been reshaped by the departures of Morgan Rogers and Jadon Sancho, while winger Leon Bailey remains a transfer target for Hull City. The club is therefore looking to augment its front line ahead of the new season.
During the club’s Indonesia tour, Guessand featured in several pre‑season friendlies, using the platform to demonstrate his readiness for regular minutes. He hopes his performances will persuade Emery that he deserves a permanent spot in the squad.
The situation underscores a broader transition for Villa, who are navigating a managerial shift and a reshuffled roster. For Guessand, the upcoming months represent a decisive opportunity to cement his place in the team.
