UNLV junior infielder Gunnar Myro has been selected for the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Division I Baseball Second Team, a distinction that highlights both his athletic performance and scholarly achievement.
Hailing from Las Vegas, Myro balances a demanding baseball schedule with a major in urban studies, maintaining a 3.98 cumulative GPA that reflects his commitment to academics.
During the recent season he appeared in a career‑high 44 games, starting 43 of them, and posted a .353 batting average that placed him among the league’s most consistent hitters.
Stat line and clutch moments
Myro compiled 54 hits, 10 doubles, 29 runs batted in and a slugging percentage of .490, while his on‑base percentage sat at .401. He also launched three home runs, the most memorable being a walk‑off two‑run shot that capped the regular season finale.
The infielder’s durability was evident in a 17‑game hitting streak that underscored his ability to stay hot throughout the stretch run.
His achievement marks the sixth time a UNLV baseball player has earned Academic All‑America honors and the second since 2012, reinforcing the program’s tradition of producing scholar‑athletes.
