The Gunnison High School soccer squad recently took a moment to thank the Gunnison Metropolitan Recreation District for a grant that has become a catalyst for their off‑season development.
During the fall campaign, the team broke new ground by advancing to the state quarterfinals for the first time in program history, a milestone that has elevated expectations across the school.
How the Grant Transformed the Program
With the funding, coaches organized weekly indoor pick‑up sessions and a community‑wide tournament, while also traveling to the CSU‑Pueblo Indoor Tournament in February, where three teams competed in two divisions.
Looking ahead, the players are heading to Denver for the University of Colorado‑Denver (DU) team camp, an event that will serve as the official launch of the upcoming season and provide intensive preparation.
