Academic Excellence Recognized
During the 2025‑26 academic year the Gustavus women's soccer squad posted a team GPA of 3.80, placing them fifth among Division III programs and tying for ninth overall across all divisions. The achievement was highlighted by the team's inclusion among the 779 squads that earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, a distinction the program has maintained every year since the pandemic.
The program's academic momentum is complemented by a history of competitive play, including a second‑place finish across all divisions in 2024. Coach and athletic staff attribute the success to a culture that balances rigorous scholarship with high‑level athletics.
Scholar‑Athlete Accolades
Individual recognitions followed the team's collective honor. Cambelle Waldspurger earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All‑Region Second Team for her work in Biology, while Haillee Wilson, Payton Mahady and Kaitlyn Brandt were named to the CSC Academic All‑District list for their majors in Communication Studies, Exercise Physiology and Management. Josie Moore and Taylor Finney also received CSC Academic All‑District honors for Political Science/English and Nursing, respectively.
Looking Ahead to the 2026 Campaign
The 2026 season will open on September 1 when the Gusties host UW‑River Falls at 4:00 p.m. The match marks the first of what promises to be another demanding schedule, but the team enters the year with a strong academic foundation and a renewed focus on maintaining its award‑winning standards.
