A Community Investment
H‑E‑B is set to donate $500,000 to construct new youth basketball courts in underserved neighborhoods of San Antonio, Austin, Brownsville and Corpus Christi. The funding, announced in partnership with Spurs Give, aims to provide safe, accessible spaces for kids to play the sport.
The check was presented during a ceremony that brought together Spurs legends Manu Ginobili and Bruce Bowen with H‑E‑B executives. The event highlighted the retailer’s broader commitment to community health and youth development across Texas.
In a surprise twist, select shoppers received free grocery vouchers, signed jerseys and tickets to the NBA Finals. Earlier in the week, some customers had already been handed tickets to Game 1, creating a buzz that spread through area stores.
"I believe every kid should be playing sports," Ginobili said, praising the collaboration between H‑E‑B and Spurs Give. "It's great that they are doing this for our communities."
The tickets purchased by H‑E‑B for Game 2 will be distributed to customers at participating locations, extending the excitement of the NBA Finals beyond the court and reinforcing the retailer’s role as a community catalyst.
