Haleigh Lecklitner, a Summit High School alumna and former Division III standout at Knox College, has stepped back onto the school’s sidelines as the new head coach of the girls soccer program.
Her journey to this role began on the road, when as a teenager she and her sister logged nearly two hours each way to compete in Denver, a testament to the limited soccer options in Summit County.
A Vision Grounded in Experience
Lecklitner’s coaching philosophy is shaped by those early challenges and by a period of burnout she experienced after her college career, a chapter that taught her the value of balance and recovery.
She stresses that athletics are a privilege, not a given, and that hard work on the field must be matched by dedication in the classroom.
To prevent the pitfalls of specialization, she encourages her players to explore other sports and hobbies, arguing that a well‑rounded athletic background fosters long‑term resilience.
Bob Bodor, a longtime figure in the school’s athletic department, will work alongside Lecklitner, bringing additional experience to the program’s development.
The new coaching staff hopes to instill a culture where effort, academic ambition, and personal growth are celebrated as much as goals on the scoreboard.
