Hamilton College Hockey Stars Earn Academic All-America Honors

Reid and Tchor recognized for championship performance, academic majors, and national awards

A Dual Threat on Ice and in the Classroom

Two members of Hamilton College's men's hockey team have been honored with a rare combination of athletic and academic distinction, earning spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Men's At-Large Second Team.

Aksel Reid, a biochemistry and mathematics major, backstopped the Continentals to a national championship and was named the NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player after a stellar performance that included 39 saves in the final. His season statistics — 616 saves, a .924 save percentage and a 1.84 goals-against average — placed him sixth nationally among goalkeepers, while his academic excellence earned him selections to the All-NESCAC Second Team and the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team.

Luke Tchor, dual-majoring in economics and mathematics, led the team in scoring with 18 goals and 16 assists, capturing the NESCAC Player of the Year award for the second straight season. His contributions helped secure a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the third time, and he was also recognized as a CCM/AHCA Division II-III All-American and a finalist for the Sid Watson Award.

Both athletes exemplify the college's commitment to integrating rigorous scholarship with competitive sport, balancing demanding majors with the rigors of a championship schedule. Their simultaneous placement on the CSC Academic All-District team underscores a broader culture of excellence that extends beyond the rink.

The honors mark the first Academic All-America recognitions for Hamilton's program since 2018, highlighting a resurgence that culminated in the 2026 national title. As the team looks ahead, Reid and Tchor serve as role models for future student-athletes aspiring to achieve at the highest level in both arenas.
