Hamilton College’s men’s basketball team has once again been celebrated for its commitment to scholarship, capturing the 2025‑26 National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award.
A tradition of academic rigor
The award, which requires a team cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, underscores the program’s dual focus on competition and classroom achievement. Under Head Coach Adam Stockwell, the Continentals have maintained this distinction for 13 consecutive years, a testament to a culture that values both athletic excellence and scholarly pursuits.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches also announced its Honors Court, recognizing students who have sustained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher while navigating the rigors of junior, senior and graduate standing.
Honors Court highlights
Seven Continentals earned a spot on the Honors Court this year: Max Freishtat, Will Holmes, Garret Keyhani, Sharif Nelson, Nate Raub, Jalen Reese and Matthew Rideout. Each of these athletes has demonstrated consistent academic performance across multiple seasons, balancing demanding practice schedules with rigorous coursework.
Among the honorees, Garret Keyhani and Sharif Nelson stand out as two‑time recipients, reflecting a sustained record of academic distinction that mirrors their contributions on the court.
