Islanders' affiliate secures future considerations
The New York Islanders, who operate the Hammers as their AHL affiliate, confirmed that they had acquired the NHL rights to Healey from the Wild in a deal that involved future considerations. The transaction ensures that the Islanders retain a claim on the defenseman should he earn an NHL roster spot.
Because the agreements are strictly AHL contracts, any NHL club may still sign Healey or Fanti if they choose, though the Hammers retain the right to develop them within their system until the deals expire on August 15.
