A Pole Position Setback Turns to Victory
Denny Hamlin qualified on pole for the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, only to be penalised for a jump start that dropped him to the rear of the field. Rather than surrendering the lead, the veteran rallied through a chaotic 500‑lap battle, navigating twelve caution periods and a fierce duel with his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates.
The race unfolded as a strategic contest of fuel and track position. While Zane Smith tried to stretch his supply, he was eventually passed by Christopher Bell, finishing ninth. Meanwhile, Kyle Larson led a substantial portion of the event, but Hamlin managed to lead 57 laps — one more than Larson — to claim the checkered flag.
Teammates in the Spotlight
Bell and Briscoe, still searching for their first 2026 victories, nonetheless secured second and third places, pushing the JGR trio to the top of the points standings. Ty Gibbs, the fourth JGR entry, crossed the line in thirteenth but remains fifth in the championship.
The next event, the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 7, will be held in the afternoon and marks the third of five straight races broadcast on Amazon Prime Video. Hamlin enters the weekend as a defending winner of the Michigan race, adding extra intrigue to the upcoming showdown.
