Hannah Rosenheck’s early years were marked by a simple yet telling moment: as the only girl among four boys on a local ice rink, she felt the sting of exclusion until she slipped on a pair of skates and discovered a passion that would shape her future.
Four years later, that same determination propelled her onto Montclair High School’s boys’ ice hockey team, where she logged goals and assists while carving a niche among her peers. Her effort earned her the Super Essex Conference/Montclair High School Female Athlete of the Year honor for the 2025‑26 season, a testament to her skill and resilience.
Now a freshman at Middlebury College, Rosenheck has joined the school’s women’s hockey program with a clear mission: to restore a Division III national championship to Vermont and to position herself for a potential run at the NCAA Division I level.
A Family Legacy on the Ice
Her recruitment was not accidental. Middlebury’s head coach Bill Mandigo spotted Rosenheck at a 2025 camp, where she impressed with offensive bursts and relentless competitiveness. The decision to commit over offers from the University of Connecticut and other Division III contenders reflected the program’s storied pedigree, including its 2022 title.
Rosenheck’s roots run deep in the sport. Her father, Gerald Rosenheck, once skated for Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, instilling a familial love of the game that she carries onto the ice.
Montclair High School head coach Connor Smith believes Rosenheck possesses the talent to thrive at the Division I level and even contend for a spot on the U.S. national team, a prospect that adds a national storyline to her collegiate journey.
Beyond the rink, Rosenheck balances academics with a rigorous training regimen that includes sprint work and conditioning, preparing her for the physical demands of college play. She has also showcased her abilities in events like the Beantown Women’s Classic, where she continues to refine her offensive edge.
Her ultimate goal is simple yet ambitious: to contribute to Middlebury’s pursuit of championship glory over the next four years and to leave a lasting imprint on a program that values both tradition and future success.
