The Hannibal High School football team turned a beloved town tradition into a fundraiser, setting up a lemonade stand during Tom Sawyer Days to support its booster club.
Athletes from multiple Hannibal sports teams staff the stand each year, using the event to build chemistry and connect with the community ahead of the upcoming season.
A Tradition That Unites
Senior quarterback Darrion Washington emphasized that the roar of the crowd is more than noise — it fuels the players' focus and determination as they prepare for their season opener.
Coming off a runner‑up finish in the state championship last year, the team is eager to translate that experience into a strong start, with the first game scheduled for August 28 at 7 p.m. against Helias Catholic.
The fundraiser not only raises money for equipment and travel, but also reinforces the bond between the players, their families, and the town that has cheered them for decades.
