A Quiet Powerhouse Rises
The Harbor Springs boys soccer program, led by veteran coach Jeff Suffolk, is setting its sights on a deep run in the upcoming fall season, drawing motivation from the recent state championship captured by the girls' team.
Having reached the regional final in 2023 before a narrow 1‑0 loss, the Rams have now completed three consecutive trips to the regional stage. At the Boyne Mountain Invitational they tested themselves against elite opponents such as De La Salle and Detroit Country Day, finishing with a 1‑3‑2 record after a 1‑0 win over Grass Lake.
Key forward Henry Juneau, a three‑time all‑state selection, remains sidelined by a shoulder injury sustained in the offseason, with a return expected later in the campaign. Meanwhile, senior captain Aaron Baughman and two sophomore leaders are shouldering the mantle of responsibility.
The team opens Northern Shores Conference play in Kingsley before hosting Kalkaska on September 8, a schedule that Suffolk believes will provide the early‑season exposure needed to cement belief in the squad’s potential.
Both Suffolk and Juneau speak of the program’s upward trajectory, noting that the girls’ championship has sparked a culture of confidence and mentorship that the boys hope to translate into tangible success on the field.
