Harding University is set to make its debut in the Southwest Conference in 2025, ending a period of independent competition that began after the program’s last conference win in 2016.
Coach Artay Corbett, now in his fourth season, brings a 10‑20 record and a clear vision for rebuilding the program, focusing on a more disciplined offensive line and a defense that must grow together.
The Bison will call John L. Lewis Memorial Stadium in Bridgeport their home field, a venue that has witnessed many of the team’s most memorable moments.
Among the returning starters are a core of experienced linemen — seniors Ricardo Hylton, Shycere Mclean, and Jaiden Chunnu, plus junior Bill Reveus — who will anchor the offense, while a young defensive unit looks to find cohesion.
A Challenging Schedule
The 2026 schedule features a slate of challenging matchups against New Milford, Kennedy, Weston, Westhill, Pompereau, Stratford, Masuk, Bunnell, and Bridgeport Central, with the traditional Thanksgiving game against Bridgeport Central remaining a highlight.
At quarterback, junior Anthony Lawrence will assume the starting role, bringing his athleticism and leadership to a receiving corps that includes promising talents such as Alex Evans Jr.
If the Bison can translate early-season progress into consistent performances, the program could finally break its conference winless streak and set the stage for future success.
