Season Opener Shutout
The Lady Bisons opened their 2026 schedule on the road against Northeastern State, ultimately slipping to a 1-0 defeat. The match took place in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where the Bisons struggled to break down a disciplined defensive line.
Harding dominated possession early, outshooting Northeastern State 10-3 in the first half and maintaining a 15-11 overall shot advantage. Despite the pressure, the Bisons could not find a way past goalkeeper Juliette Langlet, who turned away all six shots on target in the opening 45 minutes.
Early Dominance
The Bisons earned seven corner kicks compared with four for their opponents, underscoring their attacking intent. Maysa Willis played the full 90 minutes and recorded three saves on 11 shots faced, but the defense held firm.
Harding's early pressure paid off in the 56th minute when sophomore forward Sophia See struck for the only goal of the game. Her strike came at 56:40 and marked her first goal of the season, but it proved insufficient as the Bisons could not add a second.
Goal and Goalkeeper
Sophia See's goal arrived after a period of sustained pressure, yet the Bisons' finishing fell short. Langlet's performance was the cornerstone of Northeastern State's shutout, as she made four saves in the first half and denied any further chances.
Willis' full‑time presence between the posts kept the Bisons within striking distance, but the lack of conversion ultimately cost the team three points.
Next Challenge
Harding will return home to face Rogers State on Friday, September 4, at 7 p.m. in Searcy, Arkansas. The upcoming match offers the Bisons a chance to rebound and fine‑tune their attack before conference play intensifies.
