A Cross‑Continental Adventure
The Crimson squad will depart on August 9, 2026, for a ten‑day itinerary that spans Croatia’s historic coastal cities of Split and Dubrovnik before moving on to Greece’s capital Athens and the seaside suburb of Glyfada.
Under the guidance of head coach Carrie Moore, the team will blend competitive fixtures with immersive cultural activities, ranging from guided tours of UNESCO‑listed old towns to a private boat excursion on the Saronic Gulf.
A special homecoming awaits junior guard Lydia Chatira, a native of Pikermi, who will reunite with family and friends during the Greek leg of the journey.
Cultural Immersion and Community Outreach
The schedule includes three days in Split, where the players will explore local landmarks, visit a community orphanage, and practice on a rooftop court overlooking the Adriatic.
In Dubrovnik, the team will test their mettle on the famed rooftop court of the Old Town and walk the same streets that doubled as filming locations for the “Game of Thrones” series.
Athens will host a two‑day segment featuring a private sailing trip along the coastline and a guided visit to the Acropolis, offering a glimpse into ancient civilization.
The tour culminates in Glyfada, where sun‑soaked beaches and resort pools provide a relaxed setting for reflection and team bonding before the return home.
Beyond sport, the itinerary emphasizes service, with a scheduled volunteer day at the orphanage in Split, underscoring the program’s commitment to outreach.
Moore expressed enthusiasm about the tour’s dual purpose: to showcase Harvard’s athletic talent on an international stage while fostering cross‑cultural understanding.
The trip also serves as a platform for the university to strengthen its global ties, reinforcing Harvard’s mission to educate leaders who are rooted in both academic excellence and civic responsibility.
