A Summer of Play and Health
Over eight weeks this summer the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy turned local parks and recreation centers into hubs of activity, offering free basketball clinics to more than 1,600 children across 17 Metro Atlanta neighborhoods.
The tour spans Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton and Gwinnett counties, bringing the Hawks’ signature blend of sport and wellness directly to the communities where the team’s youth programs have deep roots.
Mentorship and Wellness
Participants received Hawks‑branded basketballs, T‑shirts and reusable water bottles, while CareSource’s mascot Cuddles joined the effort with nutritious smoothies and interactive health sessions.
Former Hawks players, including Jon Babul, provided on‑court mentorship, sharing personal stories and teaching movement skills that emphasize teamwork, discipline and confidence.
Beyond the game, the initiative aims to remove barriers to sports participation, using basketball as a vehicle for fostering healthy habits in a fun, inclusive and safe environment for athletes of all skill levels.
