Hayden’s soccer squad captured the Class 4‑1A Regional Championship on Tuesday, routing Cair Paravel 6‑1 in a dominant performance. Carsyn Broxterman opened the scoring and added multiple goals, driving the Wildcats forward as they prepare to host Trinity Academy in the state quarterfinal on Monday, May 25.
Not far behind, Washburn Rural fought back from a deficit to defeat Derby 4‑2, securing their twelfth consecutive regional title and earning a spot in the state tournament. The victory underscores the team’s consistency and sets the stage for a highly anticipated showdown with the Wildcats.
Seaman’s Season Concludes
Meanwhile, Seaman’s season concluded with a 5‑1 loss to De Soto in the Class 5A Regional Championship. Despite a 13‑3‑2 record and a co‑championship in the United Kansas Conference, the Vikings could not overcome three second‑half goals from De Soto, one of which came from a perfectly struck free kick by Parker Ayres from 35 yards out.
