Hayley Scamurra Brings Olympic Glory to Buffalo Youth Hockey Clinic

The gold‑medalist and Professional Women’s Hockey League champion will mentor young girls in North Tonawanda while celebrating female athletes on the Las Vegas stage.

Hayley Scamurra, a native of Getzville, New York, capped a breakout season by capturing gold with the United States team at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and adding the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s Walter Cup to her résumé with the Montreal Victoire.

A Champion's Community Commitment

In early July she will open the doors of a hockey clinic in North Tonawanda, inviting girls from five to nineteen to train, learn and skate together. The program blends on‑ice workouts, off‑ice mentorship talks and a family fun skate, creating a space where young athletes can see themselves reflected on the ice.

Scamurra credits her family for much of her success, noting that her father, Peter Scamurra, will help run the clinic and that the unwavering support she received at home shaped her work ethic. Growing up without a female hockey role model in Buffalo, she now hopes to be that beacon for the next generation.

Beyond the rink, the star will travel to Las Vegas to join Flava Flav for a celebration of female Olympians and Paralympians, bringing the story of perseverance to a wider audience.

The initiative also highlights the growing partnership between local sports entities and national brands. The Buffalo Sabres have thrown their support behind the clinic, underscoring the shared vision of expanding youth hockey opportunities across the region.
