Declan Griffiths, a 6‑foot‑6 wing from Simsbury, Connecticut, has drawn attention for his shooting touch and athletic ability, qualities that have made him a coveted prospect in the Class of 2026.
Although the University of Connecticut has long courted his brother Gavin, the Huskies have not yet made a direct recruitment overture to Declan, choosing instead to focus on other top talents at the Elite 20 Invitational.
During that event, UConn assistants observed Malachi Jordan, a five‑star recruit who will embark on an official visit to Storrs in early October, signaling the program’s continued emphasis on acquiring versatile shooters.
Recruiting Landscape
Meanwhile, former UConn assistant Luke Murray, now leading Boston College’s program, has expressed interest in adding Griffiths to the Eagles’ roster, joining a list that also includes High Point, Butler and Ole Miss, all of which have scheduled visits with the prospect.
Griffiths says he is drawn to systems that have historically produced efficient shooters and spacing threats, a philosophy he associates with Dan Hurley’s recent UConn successes, yet he remains open to programs beyond the Northeast if they align academically and competitively.
While proximity to home influences his thinking, the youngster stresses that geographic convenience is a factor, not a decisive one, as he weighs each school’s developmental environment.
