Hilton Head Preparatory School’s girls’ soccer program has cemented its place among the state’s elite, capturing its fourth straight SCISA 3A championship in dramatic fashion.
The title came on a rain‑soaked evening at a neutral venue, where the Prep faced a gritty Greenwood Christian Academy side that had taken an early lead. After falling behind 1‑0, the Prep’s attack surged back, forcing the game into a three‑period overtime that would test the stamina of every player on the roster.
Alice Carmines was the catalyst, equalising with a well‑placed strike before Adrianna Palazzo sealed the win with the decisive goal in the final overtime frame. Goalkeeper Brooke Heins turned in a career‑high 22 saves, preserving the lead and earning praise from Head Coach Risa McMillan, who lauded the squad’s resilience and unity.
The victory also marked the end of an era for four senior starters — Riley Wilbert, Sophia Schlieman, Madeline Schlieman and Samantha Rehling — each of whom will leave with four championship rings, a testament to their sustained excellence.
A Legacy Forged in Overtime
Beyond the scoreboard, the championship underscores a culture of teamwork and determination that has defined the program for years. The Prep’s success reflects not only individual talent but also the club’s commitment to developing players who can thrive under pressure.
