Hockey Day Minnesota 2027 is set to light up the ice from January 25 through January 30, bringing together high school and college programs for a week of competition and celebration.
The annual tradition, launched in 2007 by the Minnesota Wild, has become a cornerstone of the state’s hockey culture, showcasing the sport at community rinks across Minnesota each year.
This year’s edition will be staged in Brainerd, a lakeside city that will host a slate of matches featuring some of the state’s most promising talent.
A marquee matchup will see the Moorhead Spuds Boys Varsity Hockey team take on the Minnetonka Skippers in a rematch of the 2026 AA State Championship, a game that drew statewide attention last season.
It will also mark the fourth time the Moorhead boys have taken part in Hockey Day Minnesota, underscoring the program’s consistent presence on the event’s stage.
Historic rivalry returns to the ice
The showdown promises to rekindle the intensity of last year’s championship clash, with coaches and players alike emphasizing the importance of momentum heading into the postseason.
Fans are expected to fill the arena, creating an atmosphere that mirrors the electric energy that defined the 2026 final, while local businesses prepare special promotions to celebrate the occasion.
Beyond the on‑ice action, the event will feature community outreach activities, youth clinics, and alumni gatherings, reinforcing the day’s mission to grow the game at every level.
