Preseason Honors for Hofstra Field Hockey
The Coastal Athletic Association has unveiled its preseason recognitions for the upcoming field hockey season, spotlighting the Hofstra Pride’s promising roster and setting the tone for a competitive campaign.
Sophomore netminder Luci Hollister earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA team, a testament to her dominant performance between the posts last year and her continued rise as one of the conference’s most reliable goalkeepers.
Joining her on the honor roll, senior Gwenn van Dijk and classmate Kelly Levengood received honorable‑mention nods after delivering key contributions that helped shape the team’s outlook and chemistry heading into the new season.
Hollister’s 2025 campaign was marked by a 2.12 goals‑against average, a .720 save percentage and 90 stops, placing her third in the CAA for saves and fourth in both goals‑against average and save percentage among Division I goalkeepers.
Van Dijk, who tallied ten assists and three goals, also secured All‑CAA Second Team and All‑Rookie accolades, ranking fourth in the conference for assists and fourth among freshmen in assists per game.
Levengood contributed eight points — four goals in 18 appearances — and played a pivotal role in guiding Hofstra to its first CAA Championship since 2015, underscoring her impact on the offensive end.
The Pride were slotted sixth in the CAA Coaches Poll with 19 points, setting the stage for a season opener at home against Rider on August 28, a matchup that will test the team’s early‑season readiness.
Hollister’s impact continued into the tournament, where she was named to the CAA All‑Tournament Team after making eight crucial saves in the championship match versus Monmouth, reinforcing her status as a defensive anchor for the squad.
