Kelly Levengood, a junior bioengineering major at Hofstra University, has been honored with the Colonial Athletic Association’s Leadership and Sport Excellence Award, a distinction that celebrates student‑athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the field.
Award highlights holistic achievements
The CAA award recognizes individuals who demonstrate academic prowess, athletic contribution, teamwork, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship, criteria that Levengood meets across multiple dimensions.
Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.86, she has earned repeated placement on the Provost’s List, the Dean’s List and the Athletic Director’s Scholars Academic Honor Roll, underscoring her commitment to scholarship.
Academic and athletic excellence
Her academic distinction also includes membership in the NFHCA National Academic Squad and repeated selections to the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, reflecting consistent performance in the classroom.
Beyond her personal accomplishments, Levengood served on the Hofstra Student‑Athlete Advisory Committee Executive Board, where she coordinated the Pride Cup initiative that fosters campuswide community engagement.
She has also volunteered in a series of service projects that pair student‑athletes with children with disabilities, using sport as a conduit for empowerment and inclusion.
On the competitive side, Levengood started every one of Hofstra’s 18 games during the season, contributing four goals and eight points that placed her third on the team in scoring.
The recognition adds to a growing list of accolades for the Pride’s field hockey program and highlights the university’s ability to develop well‑rounded leaders.
