Holy Trinity Diocesan High School in Hicksville, New York, announced that it will not field a varsity football team for the 2026 season.
The cancellation follows the abrupt resignation of newly hired head coach Cain Mack, who served only five months before stepping down.
Principal Brian Colomban said the school respects Mack's personal decision and wishes him well, while reaffirming the institution's commitment to its broader athletic mission.
The program, which finished the 2025 campaign with a 7‑4 record and boasted an undefeated season in 2021, will pivot to a series of football‑specific strength and conditioning sessions throughout the fall.

Holy Trinity plans to restart junior varsity competition in 2027 and return to varsity play in 2028, using the interim years to build a stronger foundation.
